Don Morrow On what he wishes his students come away with from his classes “I hope I made them think critically. I hope that i’ve left them the impression that when they finish courses or when they finish their graduate program or PHD, that they walk out of here with more questions than answers. That they have skills. One of the questions I always ask to my PHD student is ‘what’s worth knowing? A questions I always ask in my dissertation comps and which I’ve always been fascinated with is ‘how do you know when you pick up a book or take a course, how long do you give it before you decide ‘you know what? this isn’t for me or ‘wow. what else do you need?’ so I hope the impact is that students are life long learners, not that they remember me but that they remember being provoked positively and being made to think, to look. When I talk about perspectives I say we all have a way of looking at something, what if we could do what they do in business and take a 360 and appreciate ‘wonder what her look at it is, i’m a male caucasian, I don’t have to worry at night about going out, I wonder what it is like to be female saying ‘it’s 10 o’clock at night. Do I walk walk home?’ I never had to think like that so getting people to think around events and so on, that is what I think I hope my impact is going to be.” Next: Julia Morrow Previous: Al Morrow Back to Browse
