On if she felt any gender inequality in her athletic career

“you asked the question about whether or not I noticed any difference between men and women’s programs or treatment of it, and the reason I said that we didn’t was because we were strong minded women and we just basically went after whatever we wanted. So we had to share, we were assigned originally not the best equipment, and we had to share with one of the mens crews so we wanted to get the best equipment because we felt, and we were better than the mens crew because we had actually beaten the mens crew. So we just decided as a group that we were just going to get to the boat house earlier, so we used to train in the morning, so we would get there for 5:30am, because the guys would never show up there that early. We just got there and we took the boat out. So by the time they got to the boat house, the boat was gone. And they couldn’t do took much about it because we were already on the water. That’s how we kind of delt with any inequities. When there is a will, there is a way.”
